2022 will reach 385.7% of cruise passengers to the country compared to last year

Global tourism indicates recovery with a decrease in Covid-19 cases in the world, so that in 2022 it is expected that 6 million 776,000 passengers will arrive on cruises, which is 385.7% more compared to 2021 and only 25.5% will miss to reach the 2019 figure. , when 9 million and 95 thousand passengers arrived on cruises, according to the Ministry of Tourism (SECTOR).

Ports with the largest number of scheduled incoming cruises, representing 85.6% of the total supply of arrivals: Cozumel, 962 arrivals (41.6% of the total); Mahwal, 386 arrivals (16.7%); Ensenada 269 arrivals (11.6%); Cabo San Lucas 241 arrivals (9.3%); And Puerto Vallarta 149 immigrants (6.4%).

In this sense, Miguel Toroco, President of Sectur, estimated that by 2022 the foreign exchange income of cruise passengers is expected to be $480.4 million, which is 286.2% more than in 2021.

As of June 2021, the reactivation of cruises began: from June to December, one million 754 thousand passengers were registered, which is 32.0% less compared to the period from January to April 2020 when 2 million 580,000 cruise passengers arrived; and 80.7% to reach 2019 passengers.

In this sense, the five ports that received the largest number of cruise passengers last year were Cozumel, Mahawal, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan, which represented 89.7% of the total number of passengers and 87.4% of arrivals.
